Transesterification and Hydrotreating Reactions of Rice Bran Oil for Bio-Hydrogenated Diesel Production

Two different methods of production bio-hydrogenated diesel (BHD), simply called green from rice bran oil (RBO), were performed. In the first route, a direct hydrotreating reaction RBO to BHD catalysed by Pd/Al2O3 was performed in high-pressure batch reactor. Operating conditions investigated as follows: catalyst loading (0.5 1.5% wt.), temperature (325 400 °C), initial hydrogen (H2) pressure (40 60 bar) and time (30 90 min). The optimal condition obtained at 1% wt loading, 350 °C, 40 bar H2 min. Yields crude/refined biofuels achieved approximately 98%, 81.71% 73.71%, respectively. another transesterification together with reactions methyl ester (RBME) using route. amount 98% crude biofuel equivalent yields refined (85.71%) (68.51%). Furthermore, physical chemical properties both RBO/RBME also considered following ASTM standard methods. summary, catalytic range low-speed industrial further recommended for or RBO.
